Class Descriptions
3-4 years
Creative Dance
Our classes for 3-4 years are high energy filled will gross motor skills, beginning tumbling, beginning ballet and jazz movement, stretching, across the floor work, free dance and more. Be sure dancers arrive to class in tight fitting athletic wear and dance wear with hair pulled back into a ponytail or bun. Dancers will be barefoot for this class.
5-6 years
Intro to Dance
Our Intro classes are for dancers 5-6 years of age and are 35 minutes long. These classes include: Jazz/Hip Hop and Ballet/Lyrical. These classes are introductions to these forms of dance. The students will be barefoot for these classes except Tap shoes. Be sure dancers arrive to class in tight fitting athletic/dance wear with hair pulled back into a ponytail or bun. Choose your style and watch your dancer learn progressional technique in these introductory combination classes.
7-18 years
Combo Classes
Our Combination classes include Jazz/Hip Hop and Ballet/Lyrical styles of dance. This class in great for dancers looking to improve flexibility, confidence, technique and grace. The ballet portion of class focuses on barre' work, stretching, across the floor and center work. The Lyrical portion of class works on connecting to music and adding emotion to your performance. This also includes floor work, new leaps, turns and jumps. For the Jazz portion they will learn jazz turns leaps and steps. For the Hip Hop portion dancers will learn glides, popping, locking, waving, tutting and breaking. Dancers should wear tight fitting athletic wear or a leotard with tight fitting extras to class. Hair should be up in a ponytail or bun. Dancer's go barefoot for this class in the summer and study all dance forms. The fall/spring session dancers can choose from the options of classes explained above and will need shoes.
6-18 years
Acrobatic Dance
Acrobatic Dance is for students to love to tumble and dance. Acrobatic dance is not gymnastics, it is a fusion of 50% dance 50% acrobatics. Our small class sizes encourage lots of passes across the floor and spotting. Proper progressions, equipment, training, spotting and qualifications are key for a safe successful class. Our studio is Acrobatic Arts Certified and follow a curriculum which focuses on: Strength, Flexibility, Limbering, Balance and Tumbling. The program we follow uses input from professionals and experts in ballet, modern dance, jazz, contortion, artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, sport acrobatics, yoga, acro yoga, pilates, physiotherapy, hand balancing and more. You will not find a more comprehensive program. Simple thoughtful progressions take the beginner preschool level dancer from log rolls and summersaults to the advanced dancer tumbling effortlessly across the stage! Acrobatic Arts is the Global leader in Acrobatic Dance training. Our classes have foam tumbling rolls. panel mats, block mats and incline mats. Having hair in a ponytail and lycra spandex tight fitting athletic/dance wear should be worn. No shoes are needed.
5-12 years
Special Stars
Join us for this athletic movement class designed for children with cognitive, motor, social delays or special need. This class is for students who normally couldn’t participate in our regular classes. Melissa King is the instructor, who has experience in special olympics and is a Special Education Teacher through ISD-318. If this is your first time trying this class with your child, you can try for free the first time.
We will have introductions to sports, practicing coordination, turn taking, and following direction. 1 parent is welcome to watch or participate if needed.
